NEWS: Vietnam to Evacuate 80,000 People After Local COVID Case in Months

Vietnam plans to evacuate 80,000 people out of the Danang.  It comes after six residents were found to be infected with Covid-19 in the past two days. These are the first community transmissions in Vietnam since April 2020.  Danang is a popular tourist center, and a gateway to the historic cities of Hue and Hoi An. Despite just a few cases, the government is taking no chances. The 80,000 domestic tourists will be flown out of Danang to 11 other Vietnamese cities over the next four days. There will be about 100 flights a day out of the airport. Thanks to cheap flights and discounted hotel packages, the city has seen a surge of domestic tourists since the country resumed travel within its borders.  International travel is still suspended.  The health ministry said all travelers leaving Danang will be required to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.
