Upon arrival in the beautiful city of Haifa and before we went to the Basilica of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, our tour bus took 5 rounds at the rotunda in front of the Baha’i World Center set on foot of Mt. Carmel.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Baha’i World Center
The area is inscribed under UNESCO World Heritage Site and enjoys the distinction as the first site of relatively new religion inscribed in the World Heritage List. Baha’i Faith was founded in Iran in 1844 by Mirza Hoseyn ‘Ali Nuri who is known as Bahá’u’lláh which means “Glory of God.”

And remember the Lotus Temple in India? Yes, it’s of Bahai Faith. And of course we know that the Lotus Temple is one of the most visited buildings in the world. Comparing the number of visitors of Taj Mahal and Lotus Temple, the later is the run away winner.

We did not visit the complex as it is not part of our itinerary (obviously it is not a Christian site) but we managed to have a great view of the vast property on top Mt. Carmel.
