I stayed at Amman International Hotel for 2 nights during my Holy Land pilgrimage trip. Booking has been pre-arranged by our local operator and as per information sent to me prior to flight, Amman International Hotel is a 4 star hotel.
We arrived at Amman International Airport late afternoon from our Dubai flight. We were picked up by our local operator at the airport and went immediately to Amman International Hotel for check in. Travel time from the airport to the hotel is roughly an hour. The hotel is located in Al Mundhir – far from the main city roads where everything could be easily accessible.
Location
Amman International Hotel lies on a hill off the university road in Al Habbab Ibn Al Mundhir, Jordan. Its location is more of a residential area than a commercial one. No nearby restaurant, convenience store or shopping arcade. Hence, one can really take a good rest because of its peaceful neighborhood. On the other hand, if one wants some sort of shopping or tea break or simply observe local city life, then one needs a taxi to get to the downtown area.
Rooms, Room Amenities and Room Service
I stayed in a twin room. The room is spacious and beds are bigger than regular single bed but not as big as regular double bed. Pillows and linens are white, clean and comforty. The bathroom has bathtub and complete toiletries are provided. The toiletries however are generic and not made especially for the hotel. There are two toilet bowls and it was my first time to see two toilet bowls beside each other. I thought I was a mistake but I think the other bowl is used when cleaning one’s feet as this is a Muslim country. There is a flat screen TV with cable, mini bar, telephone, hair dryer and airconditioning is self-controlled
They clean the room everyday and replenish all consumables. Request for additional soap and shampoo is quickly attended to.
Hotel Amenities
Amman International Hotel has almost 100 rooms of various categories. It has one restaurant with a view of the pool on one side and the neighborhood on the other side. The lobby is relatively small as well as the hallways, stairs and the elevators. Wifi is strong in all common areas and inside the room. They have business center, security, bell and taxi services among others.
Breakfast and Dinner
Our booking with Amman International Hotel includes breakfast and dinner. For both buffet breakfast and buffet dinner, selection is very limited though tolerable. Don’t expect too much of the variety of food, quality and taste. Manage your expectations. Or should I say, learn to appreciate food of other countries as food is cultural and taste is definitely not Pinoy. For breakfast say for instance, thank God there is cereal, eggs, chicken sausage and coffee. For dinner, smile and be content as there is rice and pasta. And of course, no bacon or ham here as Jordan is a Muslim country. Needless to say, no beer or liquor is available in any part of the country except in hotel bars.
Check in and Check out
Checking In and checking out is a breeze. Front desk will ask for your passport before your keys will be issued. They do it pretty fast.
Staff
Several of the staff at Amman International Hotel are Filipinos. Hence, expect that they are friendly, hospitable and they give genuine smile.
Overall
I recommend Amman International Hotel but manage your expectations. Based on the fact that it’s a 4 star hotel, I am giving a rating of 8/10 to Amman International Hotel.
