How to Get to Koh Samui from Phuket

There is a direct flight from Phuket to Koh Samui via Bangkok Airways but the fare is as expensive as Manila-Phuket.  So what I did was to take a ferry and van via Lomprayah Ferry.  I booked my ticket through a travel agency.  What is nice booking with a travel agency is the fact that you can ask as many questions as you like to them.  It’s a lot of help when planning a trip. The ticket includes both van and ferry transfers.  Travel time from my hotel in Patong, Phuket to Donsak Pier, Surat Thani is 6 hours.  From Donsak Pier to Koh Samui is roughly an hour by ferry.  Lomprayah provides both the van and ferry tickets. They also provide free hotel transfers from Koh Samui Pier (called Nathon Pier) to any hotel within the island.

Schedule of Trips from Phuket to Koh Samui

There are 2 daily trips departing Phuket for Koh Samui, 10AM and 12:30PM.  When booking your ticket, include also hotel pick up.  They charge additional amount for this but its alright as the hotel pick up service is from Lomprayah.  Hence, you can be guaranteed you wont miss your trip.  I was picked-up in my hotel 7AM.  Note that Patong Beach to Phuket town is roughly an hour and the pick up service is shared van.

Schedule of Trips from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan

There are 4 daily trips departing Koh Samui’s Nathon Pier for Koh Phangan: 11:15AM, 1:30PM, 5PM and 7PM.  When booking a ticket, request for hotel transfers already so you wont bother yourself on how to get to Nathon Pier and getting to your hotel once you arrive at Thong Sala Pier, Koh Phangan.  Note that the ferry from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan comes from Donsak Pier.  Hence, it will only drop off and pick passengers in Koh Samui.

Ferry schedule may change from time to time but relatively reliable.

Why Visit Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and Krabi

Simple answer: because of the beaches, the food, the happenings and the people.

Beaches here are comparable to the best beaches in the world.  Thai food is one of the world’s most loved.  Happenings here, be it beach party, full moon party, half moon party, waterfalls party, forest party, pool party or any party for that matter are always an “event to remember” and Thai people are just lovely.
