The white sand dunes is the main attraction of Mui Ne and one of Vietnam’s charming tourist destinations. The massive Saharan dunes is located almost 4 hours north of Saigon.
The dunes range from gold to pure white. A small stand of pine tree sit on the southern end of the lake offer a perfect spot for picnic and afternoon nap. Tourist would amaze to discover a scenic picture of big lakes covering by pink lotus flower and green leave while just passing a white sand dunes.
The white sand dunes are formed long time ago when people built a sand damp to cross the big lake which then divided the lake into 2 part: small lake and big lake. Bau mean lake in local language so people called small lake Bau Ong (Gentleman Lake), and big lake Bau Ba (Lady Lake)
Bau Trang is still wild, russet as tourism industry is not really much developed here. However, this would also be the main attraction of the area for peace lovers and artists to visit the area .
Although most people visit the White Dunes on a tour, getting there yourself is pretty straightforward. Going at your own pace affords you time to really appreciate the area, have a picnic, wipe out a few times sledding down the hot slopes, and make an interesting day away from the beach.
The best time to visit the dunes is in early morning for sunrise (5:30-6:30) or sunset (18:00-19:00).
And of course, one of the best thing to experience here is to drive a 4×4 ATV .
