The Old Chinese Pier is perhaps the busiest place in Bongao. This is a major gateway to the other islands of the province as well as going to Zamboanga or Malaysia. Big and small wooden boats used as passenger and cargo vessels are docked here.
Locals say that this place is called Chinese Pier because long time ago, Chinese merchants and other merchants like the Arabs and Malays used this port as their main gateway to trade their goods. Also during the early years, Chinese merchants built their boats in this area.
HOW TO GET TO THE OLD CHINESE PIER
The Old Chinese Pier is just few steps away from down town Bongao. It’s just close to the Fish Market. I visited the Old Chinese Pier as part of my Day Tour Activity.
