Taipei 101 is one of Taiwan’s most visited buildings. Since its construction in 2004, it was considered the World’s Tallest building until Burj Khalifa in Dubai was completed in 2010. The building is composed of 101 floors above ground and 5 floors underground. The building measures 1,667 feet from the ground.
The main attraction for tourists is its Observation Deck with an elevator that zooms from the ground floor to the 89th floor for a mere 37 seconds. It is open from 10AM-10PM and the views here are stunning.
Entrance fee to the observatory deck is NTD400 and its all worth it!
There is also an outdoor observatory at the 91st floor but views are obstructed because of its high walls.
Another interesting feature of the building worthy of a visit is the world’s largest spherical tuned mass damper (one of three) that keeps the building steady.
Also at the lower floors of the tower is a posh shopping mall.
To get here, take the MRT and get off at City Hall Station (Blue Line). The tower is 15-minute walk from here.
