Yangon

Recommended Hotel in Yangon – Central Hotel Yangon

I booked here during the duration of my stay in Yangon. I paid for a single room but I was provided a 2 bedroom suite. The room is relatively big and is carpeted. It has a mini bar, telephone, television (not flat screen) and the normal bathroom stuff.

Wifi is available for free at the lobby.  The lobby is relatively nice because of the gold and red colors dominating the area. The hotel has lifts, Foreign Exchange facility and a Tour Desk.

Breakfast was so-so and food selection is limited. The restaurant is not as clean. I think they need to do something about it. True to its name, Central Hotel Yangon is centrally located and within walking distance to some known tourist spots.  My room costs 50usd per night but they have increased their rates now as reflected in their website.  As in the entire country of Myanmar, credit cards and atm cards are thing of the future. Hence, they are entirely useless in this country.

To get to the hotel, take a cab from the airport which could costs you 10usd.  I am not sure how to get to the hotel from the airport using public bus.

This is how I rate the hotel:

Cleanliness of Room 4 stars
Cleanliness of Lobby 3 stars
Cleanliness of Restaurant 2 stars
Cleanliness of other common areas 3 stars
Room amenities 4 stars
Breakfast 2 stars
Location 4 stars
Wifi Connection 2 stars
Business Center 2 stars
Security 4 stars
Staff 4 stars
Check in/out procedures 4 stars
Reservation system 4 stars

The hotel is a good choice for first time travelers in Yangon because it is relatively inexpensive.

  1. Very good. I think about 200,000 all Rakhine and Myanmar people from the whole sitawty city and Rakhine state will greet Myanmar President U Thein Sein happily and warmly from Sittway airport to downtown Sittway. Mr. President U Thein Sein – You are welcome to Sittway and Rakhine state, Myanmar .
