Roadtrips of A Filipino Solo Traveler Around the Philippines and the World!
My fascination about Tawi Tawi started when I first saw pictures of travel bloggers on top Bud Bongao. I have always been amazed by those wonderful pictures posted in their Facebook walls. It was a dream to reach this place. And today, that dream is a reality.
Bud Bongao is more popular as a mystique place rather than its imposing beauty. To the Muslims, this place is sacred because it is the abode of the Spirits. Locals climb this mountain for healing, prayer and/or to get connected with the spirits that own the mountain, thus making it a holy place.
My story to follow.
In the mean time, here are the pictures of the beautiful Bud Bongao.
HOW TO GET TO BUD BONGAO
From Bongao, take a tricycle to bring you to the “base camp.” The better alternative is to get a guide (your tricycle driver can do) to accompany you to the summit. Don’t forget to haggle for a good rate. Trekking time is is normally an hour.
PINOY ON THE ROAD STYLE OF TRAVELING
I brought bananas with me to give it to the monkeys! I saw lots of monkeys on my way up and saw none on my way down!
MY PERSONAL BIAS
I love Bud Bongao. It is a must see and a must experience. Tawi Tawi is never complete without climbing its highest peak. Two thumps up. Or better yet, tWo hands up!
